At HCA Healthcare, we’re committed to listening to our nurses and providing the tools they need to continue providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

Professional Practice Council

Every HCA Healthcare hospital has at least one Professional Practice Council, where nurses make decisions about how we provide patient care.

Advisory councils

Nursing specialty advisory councils govern how best practices are shared across the enterprise. Currently, advisory councils exist for medical-surgical nursing, critical care nursing, emergency services and surgical services. The councils include representatives from each division and various clinical roles, including direct care nursing staff and nurse leaders.

Vital Voices

HCA Healthcare uses our Vital Voices program to take a continuous listening approach, where colleagues actively seek conversations to solve problems and generate ideas. This allows nurses to provide real-time feedback and see real-time improvement.

Additionally, each tier of HCA Healthcare’s organizational structure includes nursing leaders, while professional councils and employee rounding provide nurses a stronger voice in nursing practice and how we operate as a healthcare provider. By coming together, just like family, our shared voices accomplish more.
