Engaging with and increasing our investment in diverse businesses
HCA Healthcare is committed to expanding partnerships with a diverse range of businesses, including those owned and operated by people of color, women, veterans and members of the LGBTQ+ community and members of socially and economically disadvantaged groups. In partnership with our HCA Healthcare Capital Deployment team and our group purchasing organization, HealthTrust, we have aligned on ambitious goals and strategic actions for strengthening relationships with diverse suppliers to meet vendor and subcontractor needs. To support these commitments, we are also partnering with our Division Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Councils to set division-specific targets for diversity spending at the local level.
In 2022, HCA Healthcare will spend over $500M with small, historically underutilized businesses to include minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, veteran disabled-owned and LGBT-owned suppliers. By utilizing products and services offered by these suppliers, HCA Healthcare promotes job creation at the local and regional level, which helps create economic stability and improves lives in the communities where our patients and colleagues live and serve.
Raising the bar

In 2016, the HCA Healthcare 1100 building project in Nashville, Tennessee achieved 32% diverse supplier participation, exceeding an internal goal of 30% and city agreement of 20%.
