Engaging with and increasing our investment in diverse businesses
HCA Healthcare is committed to expanding partnerships with a diverse range of businesses, including those owned and operated by people of color, women, veterans and members of the LGBTQ+ community and members of socially and economically disadvantaged groups. In partnership with our HCA Healthcare Capital Deployment team and HealthTrust, we have aligned on ambitious goals and strategic actions for strengthening relationships with diverse suppliers to meet vendor and subcontractor needs. To support these commitments, we are also partnering with our Division Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Councils to set division-specific targets for diversity spending at the local level.
In 2023, HCA Healthcare spent more than $586 million with small, historically underutilized businesses including minority-owned, women-owned, veteran-owned, veteran disabled-owned and LGBT-owned suppliers. By utilizing products and services offered by these suppliers, HCA Healthcare promotes job creation at the local and regional level, which helps create economic stability and positively impacts lives in the communities where our patients and colleagues live and serve.
Raising the bar
In 2023, Janet McCain, senior Director of Business Diversity, HealthTrust, received the 2023 Corris Boyd Diversity in Healthcare Leadership Award from the Federation of American Hospitals for her accomplishments in leading and encouraging inclusive opportunities for diverse suppliers in the healthcare industry.
