Strengthening and expanding our investments and partnerships

HCA Healthcare invests in healthier tomorrows for the communities we serve through strategic community partnerships. As we strengthen relationships with our neighbors in our hometowns, we are addressing key issues tied to education, workforce development, civic/economic advancement, veterans, health equity and well-being.

Our commitments and actions

In the past few years, we have announced partnerships with several national organizations to improve health equity in our communities including March of Dimes, Johnson & Johnson and American Heart Association.

In addition, to help support innovative initiatives focused on addressing high priority community needs and health equity, we established an $80 million community impact fund in 2020.

At HCA Healthcare, we collaborate with community and national organizations to address societal concerns and are proud to partner with organizations that support equity in the communities we serve.

Our strategic partnership investments include those that will help increase the diversity of our talent pipeline to better reflect the communities we serve.

Our three-year, $10 million dollar pledge to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic-serving Institutions supports our goal for a diverse pipeline of future healthcare professionals. Since 2021, we have committed $7.42 million to six schools across the HCA Healthcare footprint for scholarships, internship opportunities and faculty support. These partnerships will help students excel with degrees that lead to advancement and growth, drive diversity in healthcare, and in turn make a meaningful impact on the quality of healthcare in the communities we serve.

At HCA Healthcare, we value increased board representation of people of color and women, as well as a balanced composition of community leadership roles and professional areas of expertise. We are actively supporting hospital CEOs with guidance to ensure our market/hospital boards of trustees reflect the communities we serve.

Environmental stewardship

Our dedication to the communities we serve reflects our desire to address critical environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues, including embracing our role in creating healthier tomorrows through our environmental sustainability strategy. The strategy includes four main pillars: managing energy and water responsibly, enhancing climate resilience, sourcing and consuming efficiently, and managing the environmental impact of capital programs. More information on our sustainability progress and strategy can be found by downloading our annual sustainability report (PDF) or by visiting the HCA Healthcare Impact website.
