HCA Healthcare’s more than 283,000 colleagues are driven by our desire to improve more lives in more ways. Through innovative approaches to quality, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and shaping the future of patient care.
When HCA Healthcare joins a community, we serve and invest in that community for years to come. In complement with our partners, our vast integrated network provides access to specialized resources, capabilities, data and knowledge-sharing to help provide a confident future for patients, physicians, colleagues and the community. Most importantly, we value strong relationships and collaboration that contribute to high-quality, patient-centered and compassionate care for every patient that walks through our doors.
As the coronavirus pandemic began in the United States, New Orleans surged in cases and Tulane Medical Center became overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients … 200 nurses from other HCA Healthcare hospitals, which runs Tulane Medical Center, flew there to pitch in.
Healthgrades, a national company that provides information about physicians, hospitals and health care providers from across the country, has ranked Mission Hospital as one of the top 50 in the country. Mission Hospital was the only hospital in North Carolina to be listed on the Top 50 Best Hospitals in the US list, putting it in the top 1% of the country.
As Hurricane Dorian threatened the Florida coast, top officials at HCA spent Labor Day weekend wringing their hands, pulling all-nighters in a Nashville command center. It almost didn’t matter where the storm hits; HCA Healthcare’s hospitals were going to be affected. With dozens of hospitals on Florida’s east and west coasts, the for-profit hospital chain is exposed every time a hurricane threatens the Sunshine State.
An algorithm may hold the key to saving your life in the emergency room. Hospitals are making a bet that artificial intelligence can help identify and treat patients at highest risk in their ERs, inpatient wards and intensive-care units, for dangers including the deadly infection sepsis and an impending cardiac arrest or stroke.
“When it became obvious that we really needed to increase our size and scope of services, we started looking for partners. Culture was an important part of how we determine fit … we did find that with HCA Healthcare. HCA Healthcare brings the brains, the expertise and the experience.”
“We needed to find a partner. HCA Healthcare was in it to do the right thing for our patients, the community and staff. I don’t know if Frisbie would have been able to get through the pandemic. With HCA Healthcare coming in … it was really a savior to the hospital and a savior to the community.”
"You have the business of medicine, the science of medicine and the art of medicine. What is it that holds these things together? It’s our culture. Our culture has been a very sacred part of this organization.”
"HCA Healthcare’s partnership brought quality care, expanded services, environmental sustainability improvements and more to the entire Citrus community. They became a vital part of the community, providing our hospital with a substantial financial foundation and a community partnership in local service organizations and programs. Servicing the community during the pandemic was challenging, but HCA Healthcare’s leadership exhibited professionalism, following the latest CDC guidance without ever losing sight of our patients and families. If I had the opportunity to revisit our decision to partner with HCA Healthcare, I would have changed nothing about the process. Their leadership was professional, friendly and comprehensive in all facets.”
We strive to always do the right thing for our patients. As a learning health system, we utilize data to improve care and deliver the type of care our patients need, when and where they need it. Through innovative approaches to quality, we are making a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and setting new standards for care. In its fall 2021 Hospital Safety Grades, The Leapfrog Group recognized 84% of HCA Healthcare hospitals with an A or B rating, as compared to 58% of hospitals nationally.
Many things set HCA Healthcare apart from other healthcare organizations, but at our core, our greatest strength is our people. We exist to give people a healthier tomorrow, starting with our colleagues and physician partners. We support our more than 283,000 dedicated and compassionate colleagues throughout the U.S. and U.K. through a variety of programs that offer physical, emotional and financial support for them and their families.
HCA Healthcare colleagues are committed to caring for our communities. Our model of giving reflects our belief that there are many ways to champion health. By collaborating with community partners like March of Dimes and the American Red Cross, HCA Healthcare fosters a culture of teamwork and cultivates goodwill within the diverse communities we serve to help build stronger communities.
In all of our communities, HCA Healthcare is committed to addressing critical environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. From disaster relief and environmental sustainability to helping combat the nation’s opioid crisis, we are proud to join forces with other leading organizations and take action to positively impact our communities and world. Our focus to achieve excellence in healthcare is built on a foundation of inclusion, compassion, dignity and respect, and is reflective of our desire to ensure a safe, compassionate and equitable care experience for all patients.
