HCA Healthcare is continuing to invest in innovation.
The health care giant is adding two new leadership roles to its Care Transformation and Innovation department, a vice president of digital products and a vice president of design.
Dr. Michael Schlosser, senior vice president and chief transformation officer, announced the new positions in a LinkedIn post Wednesday.
“Standing on the shoulders of our visionary founders, we are embarking on a journey to achieve true digital transformation, enhancing our digital presence and improving patient care across all touchpoints,” Schlosser said in his post.
Launched in July 2021, the department is focused on providing data-driven care, reducing manual workloads, improving clinical outcomes, empowering the workforce and expanding patient care capacity, according to Schlosser. They do that by leveraging artificial intelligence and digital strategies. As of March, Schlosser oversaw a team of 58 full-time employees.
The department is a new strategy for the hospital company that helps unlock value.
HCA Healthcare (NYSE:HCA) is Nashville’s largest publicly traded company by revenue, generating $64.9 billion in 2023, according to Business Journal research. The company is the nation’s largest health care provider with 188 hospitals and roughly 2,400 sites of care.
The new positions come as the Care Transformation and Innovation department makes an innovation of its own, changing its name to the Digital Transformation and Innovation department.
“Essentially, the department name change … reflects the various functions of the work Dr. Schlosser’s team does and will be doing,” said Harlow Sumerford, a spokesperson for the company, in an emailed statement.
Sumerford declined to provide further information about the change.
