HCA Healthcare Inc. made a big buy on Dickerson Pike.

The Nashville-based health care company paid $7.5 million for a 1.38-acre site on the up-and-coming corridor, according to Metro records.

The property, located at 800 Dickerson Pike, currently houses a tire and car service center.

The seller was Dunlap and Kyle Tire Co., which paid $375,000 for the East Nashville site in 1988, according to Metro records.

TriStar, the local health system of HCA (NYSE: HCA), is planning to build a $21 million freestanding emergency department on Dickerson Pike.

The hospital company intended to build the clinic on a property further north on the corridor, 1000 Dickerson Pike, which is home to Shugga Hi Bakery.

The bakery's owner filed a lawsuit against the owner of the building alleging that she was denied right of first refusal to purchase the property. The lawsuit has since been closed and voluntarily dismissed, according to Davidson County Chancery Court documents. TriStar has amended its Dickerson Pike plans to no longer include the Shugga Hi property, according to WKRN.

It is unclear if the recent purchase is related to the emergency clinic. TriStar could not be immediately reached for comment on Friday.

Dickerson Pike is quickly transforming into the “new front door” to East Nashville. Over the past few years, the corridor has become a magnet for new investors, developers, restaurants and residents.

A few blocks north from HCA’s new site, a 12-acre mixed-use development is in the works. New York-based Aria Development Group and Nashville-based Wedgewood Avenue are leading development of The Pike, a master-planned community with over 600 residential units, restaurant, retail and public outdoor space.
