Intro to Videos (Family Quilt)
“Above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life.”
In 2008, as part of HCA’s 40-year-anniversary celebration, we undertook a company-wide effort to create an HCA Family Quilt. Quilt blocks, collected from HCA facilities across the country, were combined to build a memorable piece, representative of our colleagues’ continued dedication and service as well as the diversity of our workforce and patients. Our quilt reflects our culture, connectedness, and the broader impact made by our family of healthcare providers throughout communities we serve.
Inspired by the HCA Family Quilt, the Culturally Competent Care video series was developed. The stories featured—small and large acts of compassion witnessed by employees, patients, and their families at our hospitals—embody the concept of Ubuntu.
By taking a “human” approach, we can all deliver care that aligns with HCA’s commitment to “treat all those we serve with compassion and kindness.” These videos were inspired by that process, and tell stories about the fabric of our community.
