The voice of nursing

Nurses at every stage in their career have a voice in decisions impacting patient care and nursing practice through HCA’s Professional Practice Councils. Nurses across the enterprise use their voice to share best practices and collaborate on topics related to patient outcomes, nursing quality and clinical practice standards, issues and policies and procedures.

Every HCA hospital has one or more Professional Practice Councils that empower nurses to shape how HCA provides excellent patient care. We harness the collective knowledge of our nurses to improve the way we deliver care and ultimately how our patients receive care. Beyond patient care outcomes, Professional Practice Councils facilitate collaboration, encourage professional growth and celebrate the success of nurses throughout the enterprise.

Each year Professional Practice Councils are tasked with evaluating a specific topic, in addition to topics relevant to their local facilities. In previous years, Professional Practice Councils have provided insight and direction to improve Foley catheter removal protocols, enhanced clinical documentation to improve nurse workflow and much more.
