When HCA Healthcare nurses discover best practices for nursing care, it changes how nursing is practiced across the country – and world – thanks to our organization’s scale. That’s why we partner with our nurses to ensure they have the tools and resources needed to provide high-quality, exceptionally patient-centered and compassionate care to every patient that walks through our doors. HCA Healthcare supports its colleagues in their practice through effective and accessible clinical education. In 2018, more than 2,600 registered nurses obtained national certification in a specialty area through the HCA Healthcare voucher program, and 1,111 charge nurses earned their charge nurse leadership certificate. Also in 2018, 2,660 nurses completed our year‐long nurse residency, a program that trains and supports new nurses. And at our five state‐of‐the‐art simulation learning centers, nurses hone their craft using high-fidelity, lifelike simulation equipment to replicate real-life situations.

Our nurses use the latest technology and innovative solutions to enhance their workflow and improve the way patients receive care. We invest in technologies, capital improvements and infrastructure to support clinicians so they can spend more time at the bedside, caring for patients.

Nurses at every level of the organization are empowered to use their voice to influence patient care through HCA Healthcare’s professional practice councils, and our nursing strategy provides a roadmap for advancing nursing across the enterprise.
