Schedule/Shift: Full Time, Evenings (Rotating Weekends), 0.8



-Under general supervision, responsible for patient care support including patient and equipment transport, assistance in emergencies, acting as courier between departments, and performance of specific patient care tasks.

-Promotes a cooperative working relationship with care team members, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural and age differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.

-Supports the mission, philosophy and goals of Good Samaritan Hospital.


-Transports patients between hospital departments using wheelchair, gurney, beds or by assisting to walk.  Takes into consideration patient’s age and physical condition when transferring and transporting patients.

-Assists with moving, lifting and positioning patients.

-Responds to all codes, disasters and fires and functions at the direction of the team leader or shift director.

-Transports deceased patients from nursing department to morgue.  Enters correct information into morgue log book.

-Weighs patients requiring the use of a bed/chair scale.

-Transfers beds and other patient care equipment between areas of the hospital.  Assists with keeping hallways cleared of equipment.

-Uses computerized Medical Information System in accordance with job requirements and confidentiality policies.

-Complies with hospital life-safety, quality and risk management policies, standards and procedures and in doing so is responsible for identifying, reporting and initiating correction of any potentially harmful conditions and/or behaviors.



-Ability to read and write English in order to maintain records at a level normally acquired through completion of high school.

-Nursing Assistant or EMT experience or successful completion of basic nursing skills classes.

-Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

-Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively and courteously with patients, family, visitors and hospital staff.

-Critical thinking skills necessary to prioritize response to sometimes conflicting patient care and department needs, with consultation of supervisor.
