Nashville-based public relations industry veteran and former The Andrews Agency president Jena Locke Thomas has launched PR, marketing and events agency Parthenon Public Relations.
Prior to starting Parthenon PR, Thomas (pictured) gained more than 10 years of experience at Nashville-area communications firms, beginning at Hall Strategies and followed most recently by the aforementioned stint with The Andrews Agency.
Thomas’ past client roster includes Dunkin’ Donuts, Baskin-Robbins, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey and Disney On Ice. In addition, she has worked with local businesses including Five Points Pizza, Chef’s Market, Southern Festival of Books and Nashville Public Library Foundation.
Thomas serves on Belmont University’s PR Department Advisory Board and the YWCA Junior Board Committee.

Curb among Junior Achievement National Centennial Leadership Award honorees
The Junior Achievement USA Board of Directors has named Mike Curb, founder of Nashville-based Curb Records, one of six Junior Achievement National Centennial Leadership Award honorees.
The award recognizes outstanding board members, volunteers and supporting companies and organizations that have provided services and support to Junior Achievement USA, according to a press release.
Curb, a former lieutenant governor of California, has been active with JA in Southern California and Middle Tennessee. He currently serves on the board of JA for Middle Tennessee.
“Mike has been a big proponent of JA of Middle Tennessee’s expanding programming, receiving funding and educating more students,” JA of Middle Tennessee President Trent Klingensmith said in the release. “At the core, he’s just passionate about helping children, and that’s why he is such a worthy recipient of this award.”
Centerstone’s Guth appointed to National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention committee
David Guth, chief executive officer and co-founder of Centerstone, has been appointed to the executive committee of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention, a Washington D.C.-based public-private partnership aimed at preventing suicide.
Along with Guth, President and Founder of Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors Bonnie Carroll and New York City first lady and ThriveNYC founder Charlene McCray were appointed to the committee.
“These three leaders bring both an impressive set of accomplishments and influence within their sector and their leadership will help the Action Alliance advance suicide prevention nationally,” Bob Turner, private sector chair of the Action Alliance and former senior vice president at Union Pacific Corporation, said in the release. “The Action Alliance is committed to bringing the nation’s leading influencers together as part of a broad sector approach to preventing in suicide across the country.”
The Leapfrog Group recognizes Southern Hills among nation’s best hospitals
TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center has been named one of the top general hospitals in the United States by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog that collects and reports hospital performance data.
The hospital was the only in Tennessee to be recognized and one of 118 in the country. Of the 118 ranked, 13 were children’s hospitals, 35 were general hospitals, 53 were teaching hospitals and 17 were rural hospitals. Less than 6 percent of eligible hospitals nationally have received the recognition, according to a press release.
"We're honored to be recognized as a top hospital in patient safety and quality in Tennessee. Our physicians and staff work diligently to provide our patients with the best care possible," Joanna Conley, TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center CEO, said in the release. "We are pleased the community has this type of information available to help them make informed decisions about who they can trust for their healthcare needs."
