Menorah Medical Center, which is part of HCA Midwest Health, made Kirk McCarty its CEO on June 1.

McCarty most recently spent four years as CEO of Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado, also part of HCA Healthcare. He was that hospital's COO for six years before that.

Earlier in his career, he spent eight years at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, which also is under HCA.

McCarty replaces Phil Buttell, who in April became CEO of Los Robles Health System in Thousand Oaks, California, according to his LinkedIn page.

In Colorado, McCarty worked to build up the hospital's surgical program. Under his tenure, the hospital launched its Center for Robotic Surgery and the International Center for Hip Preservation.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to return to Kansas City and join Menorah Medical Center to work with its extraordinarily talented team of dedicated and inspiring physicians, nurses and employees,” McCarty said in a release.

HCA Midwest President Keith Zimmerman also praised McCarty's "stellar track record."

McCarty has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Truman State University and a master's in nursing from the Research College of Nursing. He is a graduate of HCA Healthcare’s chief nursing development program.

HCA Midwest is Kansas City's largest private-sector employer and the largest local health care provider. It has 10,051 employees and six area hospitals.
