The 2019 Excellence in Nursing Award from Hospital Corporation of America was presented to Doris Dlouhy, a local nursing graduate.
Dlouhy graduated with honors in 2015 as a Licensed Vocational Nurse from Temple College in Taylor. She then completed the LVN-RN Bridging Program with Temple College in Temple and graduated as an honor graduate with an Associate Degree in Nursing.
Dlouhy will finish her Bachelor degree in Nursing in August and has been dual enrolled in the nursing master’s program at Western Governors University. She is a committed nurse, completing 17 years of work for St. David’s and is an Anatomy and Physiology tutor for Temple College.
Dlouhy was presented with a certificate, pin and received monetary recognition for her outstanding commitment and care at a ceremony on Feb. 27.
The Excellence in Nursing Award is presented to one person each year. Five nurses are nominated out of a pool of over 200 other nurses and ultimately one is chosen.
