HCA Heroes – Josh Solomon Works to Help Disadvantaged in Vietnam
Dr. Josh Solomon is an intensivist at Rose Medical Center. He’s always believed that if you have the ability to help another person, you should. That’s why after making several trips to a Vietnam orphanage to provide medical care, he helped start the Hoi An Foundation. The Hoi An Foundation provides high quality healthcare to the disadvantaged in Vietnam. It not only provides the care but also trains local doctors to manage chronic conditions; with a focus on pediatric HIV, heart disease and hypertension/diabetes.
Josh’s work in Vietnam is improving the lives of so many and we’re excited to share that story with you today in this episode of HCA Heroes.
HCA Heroes – Ben Ikirima Builds Memorial Clinic in Kenya for Mother
Ben Ikirima works as a Patient Care Technician at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL. He’s always had a passion and desire to help others. Much of that can be traced to his experience growing up in Kenya, where he saw firsthand what it looked like when people weren’t able to get the help they needed; both in healthcare and every day life.
That was never more real than when Ben lost his mother to a condition that was very treatable if she’d had the means and mode of transportation to make it to the hospital. So Ben decided that he would do something about it. He’s raising money to build a memorial clinic in his village to honor his mom and ensure that the people he grew up with have access to the help they need, when they need it.
Ben’s work is nothing short of heroic and we’re proud to feature him in a new series called HCA Heroes. Here is Ben’s story in his own words.
