Our programs provide you the opportunity to be a part of a learning hospital network that is changing the nation’s healthcare landscape. When you join an HCA residency or fellowship program, you join a diverse community of physicians with access to cutting-edge technology and groundbreaking research, and who are dedicated to delivering the very best patient care.
“HCA has sponsored and participated in graduate medical education for decades, but never before have we committed so many resources to building new programs across the country. As the nation faces a worsening physician shortage it’s vitally important that medical school graduates have access to quality residency programs. At HCA, we are using our scale and expertise to support sustainable pipelines of superior, patient-centered physicians who will care for our communities for generations to come.”
Bruce Deighton, PhD
Vice President of Graduate Medical Education
Our graduate medical education programs exist within some of the nation’s highest quality hospitals as recognized by the Joint Commission’s list of Top Performers on Key Quality Measures. As an industry leader in quality, HCA’s standards and expectations for care serve as the benchmark for our academic programs. All residents receive superior, patient-centered training that will enable them to become leaders in their post-residency careers.
HCA is a community of 172 hospitals, 119 surgery centers, more than 900 physician practices and groups, and 86 urgent care centers. The breadth of our network offers our residents opportunities to practice in any of the 20 states where we operate. Many of our residents go on to have long careers within HCA’s network of healthcare facilities.
We believe that patients deserve a hospital with top doctors using the latest tools, treatments and technology to provide the most modern care with the best possible results. This commitment to innovation extends deeply into our residency programs because we know that the world is changing and how we care for patients and support our physicians needs to change with it to ensure that we continuously provide the best care possible. At the same time, we understand that innovation is more than just technology; it also relates to how we develop and grow our programs. At HCA, we are proud to be using our resources to build the largest GME network in the country.
Our residents tell us that the culture and community they find in our programs is a main reason why they chose to complete their training at an HCA hospital. We pride ourselves on creating programs that celebrate teamwork, collaboration and unity. From Florida to Utah, our residents say that they feel like they are part of a community of physicians working together to care for and improve human life.
