HCA Total Rewards

The HCA Total Rewards program provides employees with comprehensive and competitive financial and non-financial rewards – including pay, incentives, benefits, job satisfaction and a variety of other rewards – in an effort to create a valuable employment experience and meet the diverse needs of our workforce.

LifeTimes Benefits Choices

  • Medical Plans — Medical benefits are available to full-time and part-time employees. HCA shares the cost of the coverage for full-time employees. All medical options cover preventive care, such as routine physical exams, well-child care and immunizations, behavioral health and provide coverage for prescription drugs.
  • Dental Plans — The dental plans cover preventive, basic and major dental care.
  • Vision Plan – The vision plan provides benefits for eye exams, lenses, frames and laser correction surgery, as well as the opportunity to save on replacement eyeglasses, sunglasses and other eye care items.
  • Flexible Spending Account Plan — This plan allows you to set aside before-tax dollars to pay for healthcare or dependent care expenses.
  • Life Insurance — Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance are provided at no cost to you. You may purchase additional life insurance, up to a total of six times pay. Other insurance opportunities include dependent life insurance for your spouse or children.
  • Disability Benefits — You will have long-term disability benefits in case you are injured and are unable to work for an extended period of time.
  • CorePlus Voluntary Benefits — You will be offered the opportunity to purchase voluntary benefits that are designed to complement and supplement the LifeTimes Benefit Choices Program. Available programs are: short-term disability, long-term care insurance, legal assistance and voluntary permanent life insurance.

HCA 401(k) Plan

  • HCA 401(k) Plan —  This plan combines contributions from your facility with your own contributions to help you save for the future. You may save from 1% to 50% of your before-tax pay through payroll deduction, up to the IRS maximum. Employees age 50 or over may make additional "catch-up" contributions up to the IRS limit. The plan will provide a 100% match on your contributions (from 3% to 9% of pay) based on your years of vesting service. That means for every $1 you save (up to your matching level), your facility matches $1, giving you a better chance to meet your retirement needs. You will be automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Plan on the first day following two months of service. Your contribution rate will begin at 3% of pay and increase by 1% in January of each year until it reaches 15% or you actively elect another rate or opt out of the plan.

Employee Recognition Programs

  • STAR Awards - Employees may receive recognition through cash and non-cash awards ranging in value for outstanding acheivements.
  • Employee Service Awards - Beginning at five years of service, employees are recognized for their tenure with the company.
  • Caring for the Community Awards - Based on employee nominations, individuals demonstrating outstanding service to the Nashville community are recognized each year.

Other Rewards 

  • Adoption Assistance Program - You may receive reimbursement for expenses associated with the adoption of a child, including agency fees, attorney fees and travel expenses.
  • Child Care Center Discounts – HCA has negotiated discounts with a national child care center company for employees at HCA-affiliated facilities.
  • Wells Fargo Student Loan Program – You will have access to low-interest student loans to cover educational expenses for yourself or any family member.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) All HCA-affiliated employees have access to an EAP, a confidential counseling and referral service providing personal, legal and financial services.
  • Financial Education - HCA’s Financial Education program offers free, on-site courses as well as online information and tools to help you prepare for your future while you make the most of your total rewards from HCA.
  • Laser Eye Surgery Discounts – You may save on the cost of laser surgery to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.
  • Fitness Center – The corporate offices house two fitness centers on campus, including a running track, cardio equipment, universal weights and on-site exercise classes.
  • HCA Promise Fund Scholarship Program – This program, established to encourage careers in healthcare and enrollment in higher education, provides awards of up to $4,000 per year to eligible dependents of HCA-affiliated employees. Applicants must be enrolled in the Registered Nursing field at an accredited college, university or vocational/technical school with 50% of their degree completed. Upon graduation, scholarship recipients must commit to a work commitment. Applications are available in the first quarter of each year. 
  • Community Outreach Opportunities – You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved in the community through the Community Outreach program, which informs employees of local volunteer needs.
